If so you could be the ideal person to take a volunteer slot broadcasting for Radio Mount Vernon.
The team that runs Mount Vernon Hospital’s radio station is looking for help to run it.
The service began back in 1969. The aim is to provide a friend for the patients at their bedside via the radio.
Volunteers from Radio Mount Vernon regularly go out to the wards to visit the patients and collect requests.
They also go out and meet the public, making them aware that the station exists. Events that have helped them to achieve this includes discos, roadshows and shaking cans outside nearby supermarkets.
Later this month it will hold two open days, giving guests the chance to see what the team does and how they do it.
The Open Sessions take place on:
Wednesday 25th April 2 – 5pm
Sunday 29 th April 3 - 7pm
Jean Gillen, Radio Mount Vernon volunteer, said: “Come and have a look at our studio and music library – maybe have a go at introducing some music – live!
“You might like to tell us one of your favourite pieces of music or songs, so that we can play it live, for you.
“Or you might like to present - live - one of the patients' requests.
“We need volunteers to broadcast and to visit the wards – maybe this might be something you could do.”
